Saare Jaahaan Se Achchha_Hindustan Hamaara
Hum Bulbulein Hain Isski_Ye Gulistan Hamaara

Ghurbat Mein Ho Agar Hum_Rehta Hai Dil Watan Mein
Samjhon Wahiin Hamein Bhi_Dil Ho Jahaa Hamaara

Parbat Woh Sab Se Uncha_Hamsaaya Aasmaan Ka
Woh Santary Hamaara_Woh Paasbaan Hamaara

Godi Mein Khilti Hain Isski Hazaaron Naddian
Gulshan Hai Jinke Dam Se Rashk-e-Janaan Hamaara

Aye Aab-e-Rod-e-Ganga_Woh Din Hain Yaad Tujhko
Utra Tere Kinaare Jab Caarvan Hamaara

Mazhab Nahin Sikhaata Aapas Mein Beir Rakhna
Hindi Hain Hum_Watan Hai Hindustan Hamaara

Unaan-o-Misr-o-Roma Sab Mit Gaye Jahaan Se
Ab Tak Magar Hai Baaqi Naam-o-Nishaan Hamaara

Kuchh Baat Hai Ke Hasti Mit-ti Nahin Hamaari
Sadion Raha Hai Dushman Daur-e-Zamaan Hamaara

“Iqbal”, Koi Mahram Aapna Nahin Jahaan Mein
Maalum Kya Kisi Ko Dard-e-Nihaan Hamaara**

“Song Of Hindustan”

Nothing Like Our Hindustan In The World Entire
She Is Our Garden, We Her Warbling Choir

We May Wander Far From Home_Home Resides In Our Thoughts
We Too Live At That Place Where Lies Our Heart

The Highest Mountain Of The World_A Neighbour Of The Skies
That Tough And Tall Watchman Guards Us Day And Night

A Thousand Rivulets Criss-Cross Through Her Plains And Wilds
Because Of Which Our Garden Vies With Paradise

O Ganges, Flowing Past Thy Banks_Remember Thou That Time
When We Landed On Thy Shore_In This Sacred Clime

Religion Does Not Teach Us To Harbour Mutual Spite
We Are Indians, One And All_Hindustan Our Land Of Pride

Greece, Egypt And Rom_Have Vanished Out Of Sight
But Our Name Lives On In Spite Of Time And Tide

Something Must Be There To Keep Our Name Alive
Though The World For Centuries Has Been To Us Hostile

We Do Not Have A Confidant In The World, “Iqbal”
None Knows What Sorrows Lurk Within Our Heart**

Always wanted to know about Sir Allama Iqbal, as my mother has a great database of his writings .. unfortunately I cant read Urdu  (it’s a shame) anyways I googled and got information not only on him but also got a chance to read the entire “Saare Jaahaan Se Achchha_Hindustan Hamaara” with bonus english translation.

Loved it. Independence week is going on so thought its right time to actually post this and share it with all of you.

    Dear Humayunn,

I even don’t know how to read URDU and I am searching for Poetry of Dr. Iqbal.

There are a lot of sites that have Matter in Translated in English but the bad thing about it is that they only have ENGLISH Translation and not the original words in English.

Do you know some source where I can find the way you have mentioned. Poetry in English and then Translation in English.

    My email: puneetghai100@gmail.com

    Thanks

    Puneet
